As I was reading through some things today, a book recommendation came up. I took a look. I used the Amazon “Look Inside” previewer. I read some reviews and checked its rating.
And then I bought it.
Perhaps a totally unremarkable event, but for a couple of things. First, when I moved recently, I gave away a few boxes of books that I’d accumulated over time. I’d either read them or decided I was never going to, so, off they went. And it was a good thing. My shelves are still fairly full (because before the move, I used to double shelve — there were books behind books, and it was a lot of those books that went first), but they’re manageable.
So what’s another book?
Well, I got a notification that I had a package at the post office this afternoon. And it turns out it’s another book that I’d ordered just a few days ago — a rather weighty one of 886 pages. Philosophy. Some pretty deep reading. It’s going to take a while.
And then I remembered the other book that I just got on Monday. And now I’m thinking that I’m well on my way to building up my library again.
Oh well. I suppose it’s a good problem to have…

You double shelved your books?! Oh my goodness lol
My current stack includes The Haldeman Diaries, In Retrospect by McNamara, Shadow by Bob Woodward, Nixon and Kissinger, and Nixon’s memoir. It’s developing into a deep rabbit hole.
