Well, since I’ve told you Steely Dan’s best song (“Aja”) and Supertramp’s best of many (“Asylum” if you missed it yesterday, although that post was more about the best album), and since you know by now I like Talking Heads, I may as well tell you their best song too.
This one’s been going through my head a lot lately — it’s got a drive that captures you but the lyrics are really what attracts me — I find them rather haunting for some reason.
So yeah, “This Must be the Place (Naive Melody)” is indeed Talking Heads’ best song.
And as a bonus, although there are better recordings, I’m posting the video from their film Stop Making Sense, perhaps one of the best concert videos you’ll ever see. I recommend you watch the whole movie when you have the time. It’s such an interesting concept.
