I’m not a musician by any means. I don’t even listen to a lot of music (compared to some people). Perhaps I’m more discerning though. I love all kind of music, and I’m as comfortable listening to Pavarotti and Beethoven as I am listening to Led Zeppelin.
Or Matteo Mancuso. I even wrote about him quite some time ago, and a piece he and his trio did called The Chicken. It’s excellent. Go listen to it.
For not being a musician, it might also seem odd that I follow Rick Beato on YouTube. He has a way that even we uninitiated can sometimes dig. So I was quite happy when I saw that Rick interviewed Matteo, and even if you can’t get into the technical talk about music, you can just watch Mancuso’s fingers and simply be amazed. Beato titles his interview, “The Matteo Mancuso Interview: The World’s Greatest Guitarist?” — leaving it open to question (he’s introduced me to a couple of incredible guitarists now), but I tend to lean toward “Yes. Yes he is.”
But what do I know?
If you just want to see him play (although he demonstrates throughout), skip to 35:30.
