Gonna try this, because it’s just words. And it’s Wednesday. Still, there’s not much to say…
I love the movie Encanto. I’ve mentioned that before, along with mentioning it comes in second to Coco. But the music catches me, and so it’s a close second. Thing is, during my recent travels, the planes didn’t have Coco playing (I watch it every time I go somewhere), but they did have Encanto…and not much else, really.
So guess what I watched four times? Now, I did fall asleep during each showing at various times, so I’d only call it “twice” really. In any case, a movie’s gotta be pretty good to stand up to that much viewing in such a short period of time, doesn’t it? If you haven’t seen it yet, you really must.
I’ve been off the bike a bit lately if you haven’t noticed, and it’s not all because of my traveling. Last Sunday I got a little careless in the morning and hit a slick spot as I was turning up the ramp to get to my apartment’s front door. I went down pretty hard, and I’m thinking I’ve cracked a rib or two. Since it’s Wednesday and it still hurts pretty badly when I cough or turn over at night in bed, I might just go get the x-rays tomorrow for the official word.
So I don’t know if I’ll be out on the bike any time soon. May take yet another weekend off here…we’ll see.
I’m really liking the latest (and probably last of the year) Pulitzer, Viet Thanh Nguyen’s The Sympathizer. It’s yet another fresh piece of work — I’ve run into a few on this stretch. I really recommend doing something like this, if only to get some pretty unique variation in your reading. I mean, I’m pretty sure it’s too easy to fall into a rut, or follow a single author for too long. This method of reading is sure to get you some variety.
What better way to leave off than to give you a song from Encanto. It works much better in the context of the movie, of course, but you’ve gotta love the beat…
