I’ve been a bit off on my BCFBs this year. By this time last year, I had already done over 20. This morning I did my 14th in 2023. But my second this week, and it felt exceptional.
I do these rides mostly to avoid the heat of the Korean summer afternoons. By mid-morning, we’re in the “feels like” range of at least the mid-90s. That’s what’s been killing me lately on the Saturday rides. This upcoming Saturday, it’s supposed to hit 100 in the “feels like” category by nine. And yeah — if you’re in the sun, it really does feel like what they say.
The cooler air drove me to the early morning rides (up by 4, cup of black coffee (the “BC”), and on the road by 0430), but it didn’t take me long at all to discover something even better about them: the sky as the sun rises is absolutely beautiful. Throw in that it’s a bit cleaner too, and you’re winning on all fronts.
I’ve gotten plenty of great photos over the six years I’ve been doing BCFBs, but I always stop for more. And then one more after that. Even if I feel like I’m running behind. This week was no exception. And since I’ve just gotten a new phone, the shots are even better. So today, I’ll share just a few that I took on Tuesday and this morning…

I’m sure there are more to come. Have as beautiful a day…wherever you are.
What is a BCFB? And wow your pictures are incredible!
A “BCFB” is a Black Coffee Fat Burner. The concept is that you wake up, drink a cup of black coffee to kickstart your metabolism, the engage in exercise which will more readily attack your fat reserves because there is no readily available fuel in your system from a recent meal. Does it work? I have no idea. But I’ve been doing them for 6 years now and I ain’t dead or morbidly overweight. But of course, there are a lot of other factors at play too.
And yeah, my new camera is excellent. Thank you for noticing.
