Holiday Edition: More Like It

Saturday was a beast when it came to riding. Took me two days to recover adequately. Also made me resolve to not be out any later than I have to be…which, right now, seems to be somewhere between 10 and 11.

So, what to do on a Tuesday off? I was so bored sitting around the house that I didn’t even take leave Monday until noon — by which time I’d done just about everything I could at the office. But here I had a whole Tuesday, and I guess I was recovered sufficiently from my near heatstroke (I exaggerate) on Saturday. How about 50? At 4?

It actually turned out to be a pretty good plan. Joon had plans for later in the day so had to be home by 9, and a 4AM start at 10mph average would get us there (as it stands, we averaged better, and pulled into Koaroo around 8:30). We had a pleasant morning, squiggled around a fairly local map (as you will see from the Relive below), and saw the typical interesting early morning things. It was humid, but bearable. Beyond 9? I don’t know, and I wouldn’t want to have found out. But for our schedules and preferences, it was just right.

So here’s your 4th of July bonus — another ride…

Patriot’s Monument in Wongok.
This morning lake was so beautiful.
Old heating system…dangerous.
The bridge for the new expressway (the 29, I believe) over Gosam Reservoir.
Random roadside carvings
Random roadside friendly frog
Random art
They have cemented the river crossing — takes all the fun out of it.
It’s not the “Coff & Pizz,” but close…
