Autumn Moon and the End of the 2022 BCFB

Maybe I’m being a bit premature here, but I can’t imagine many more mornings like the one I had today. I didn’t sleep well last night as it was, but I still don’t set an alarm — I almost always wake up around 4, and most certainly before 5 every day. But last night, I woke up a few times and ended up listening to a couple of podcasts to put me back to sleep.

So I woke up what I’d typically consider too late to ride — about 4:05 AM — but decided to check the weather anyway. After Saturday’s sub-zero (celcius) ride, I figured anything much higher might not be bad — and the 46 it turned out to be was a real bonus. I mean, a full 20 degrees warmer than I was on the weekend ride sounded like shirtsleeve weather to me.

But of course, I didn’t go in shirtsleeves. I had a full jacket and a couple of layers beneath. But still, only shorts and regular socks — not bad at all. And I wasn’t committed to anything long, so, although I didn’t get out the door until 4:34, I felt a little jaunt around the base would have been enough.

It was, but I’m still quite tired now. Maybe it’s time for a bit of a nap. And maybe it’s about time to retire the BCFB for the year, too. Thirty-eight in 22. Not as many as the 42 last year, but still, a good run…

Right out of the complex this morning, with the moon just peeking out.
It seems every time I took a picture this morning, the moon was hiding. Still, this does have that painting-like quality…
