Here’s some stuff.

Sure, I may have alluded in the past that Wish You Were Here was Pink Floyd’s greatest work…but…I’m listening to Dark Side of the Moon, and I must admit, although I have a strong case for Wish, most Floyd fans would probably go with Dark Side. And I’m not going to begrudge them that. Because Dark Side of the Moon is an absolute masterpiece that is nearly unrivaled but by Pink Floyd’s own work elsewhere. They’re certainly the one group I wish I could have seen in their heyday. Even more so than the group that put out what I think is the best album of its era (I’ve written about them before, if you can remember).

But, c’mon. Dark Side of the Moon is just plain incredible. I’m listening to “Us and Them” right now, and it’s too much. If you’ve not heard it, or have put it off too long from the past, you may as well take the time now…

After having the same email account for as long as I can remember, I decided to actually look at my junk mail and see what was going on over there. I have always scanned the folder for items that I actually want to see, but generally I just hit “empty folder” every day, just to keep it clean.

But I’ve been seeing the same junk for quite some time now, and I wondered recently if I could just get rid of it before it got to my junk box. Some of them were easy enough — businesses from which I’d thoughtlessly agreed to get their mail for one thing or another. And for these, I just “unsubscribed.” But there were others with whom I’d made no such agreement. They just kept showing up. So I learned to block them, and it’s interesting because quite a few of them were coming from the same email address. So, hurray for me, I figured it out, right?

Of course not.

Because these guys have backups to their backups, and if you block one, three others will get through.

But I think I have it now. I noticed a pattern in all of their emails, so I just created a rule that deletes every email with which that pattern is associated. And I’m so paranoid about it, that I’m trying to be as vague as possible, just in case they’re listening.

So, I’ve got that going for me. Which is nice. We’ll let you know if it actually worked in a couple of days.

We finally had a family visitor…though I suppose some might not count it as such. I’ve long invited anyone in my family who wants to come to Korea to drop in. All they need is the plane ticket — we’ll take care of them for the rest of the trip (well, as long as they’re not planning on staying for the whole 90 days allowed on a tourist visa).

So my daughter and son-in-law got stationed in Okinawa, which is only a few hours’ flight south of here, just a couple of months ago. While we were disappointed that our daughter couldn’t make it, our son-in-law actually had to come up to a city a few hours’ drive south of here for business, and he had a few days to kill, what with the typhoon on its way (having spent some time boring my daughter just a couple of days ago). So we found a direct bus that brought him to Osan city just north of us, picked him up on Saturday evening, then spent Sunday together before driving him back down on Monday. It was all a lot of fun. Ate plenty of food, went to church and a museum, and really, you can’t go wrong with a nice drive. Korea is so beautiful, and seeing more of it is never a bad thing.

But next time, Scott, bring your wife.

Scott coming gave us an excuse for an early Korean Thanksgiving. It was excellent.
