Another beautiful morning for a ride, and as usual, I caught on fairly quickly (that is, it didn’t take me long to stop questioning why on earth I was out so early). We’re fast approaching the longest day of the year, and yet it’s quite cool in the mornings yet. And it’s quiet. And the sky is lovely.

And the bugs are out in force, bouncing off the covering over my mouth like a trampoline. The mask blocked one that would’ve made a good breakfast, if that was my thing. But it most certainly isn’t, and so the mask was up for a good portion of the morning’s ride.
I really am hitting my stride recently. More energy, less pain. Feeling good throughout the ride. I could probably stand losing about 15 pounds, but it’ll come…once I get back from a vacation during which I’m sure I will eat quite a bit of excellent food (could his be the year I convince my mother to go double on the coconut-pecan frosting?).

I’m planning a century ride to kick off the Fourth of July weekend (or thereabouts). Then, it’ll be plenty of good beer to rehydrate. I’m not intimidated by the thought at all — really looking forward to it, actually. Probably won’t be getting a lot of other riding otherwise. Then it’ll be back home and a serious move at dropping some of that weight so I can get back to climbing a bit more easily.

Could be another Summer of Bob on it’s way…

If anyone could convince Mom to double the coconut pecan frosting it would be you, but that is one steep hill to conquer. Many have tried…
