Coming Around

It could be that we’ve just launched the season a little early. The muscles have been a bit stiff so far this year. As I just wrote a couple of days ago, even the “easy” rides have been a bit uncomfortable.

So what on earth got me out on the road already this morning at 4:30 AM. Well, it just felt like the thing to do.

And it turns out, I didn’t mind. Kept it light and simple — a little jaunt up to Osan, then over to the east, and then home. Even averaged 15mph, which is the kind of stuff I’d have done a couple of year ago. And I’m not hurting as much today. Might just be that I’m coming around.

I got a bit of a bonus out of it too. I’d replaced the sealant in my back tire, and completely changed my front tire. It’s always interesting (and a bit rewarding) to be able to get a tubeless tire on right. This one took a little work, but it’s holding out beautifully, and the ride wasn’t bad. I had it at the high end as far as pressure, so I think I could get a bit more comfortable if I shoot for 40 — 50 psi or so once it’s well-seated.
