Saturday 60: First Fondo

Well, it’s time to start taking it up a notch. As the days warm up, the start times are earlier (although it was right at freezing when we left this morning at 7), and this means the distances can get a bit longer.

So we decided to knock out the first 100k of the season with a trip up around Anyang and a lap around Baekun Lake (which, by the way, is almost entirely unrecognizable from the first time I visited about 20 years ago).

It was actually a beautiful day, air quality included. And the area we traversed to the west of Uiwang was new and interesting. Overall a great day. I should sleep well tonight.

First picture of the day, looking north over Osan.
Guardians at the entrance of a Buddhist Temple.
And the other two.
Encountered a bit of traffic.
One of Joon’s hobbies is taking pictures of me taking pictures.
We made two convenience store stops along the way. Had to double back for one.
Discovered a protected tree along the way — a Sawtooth Oak
150 years old
Right next to the North Osan IC. I remember when this was on a one-lane road in the country. Now, it’s surrounded by major highways.
The picture’s a little beat up, but it’s always been a favorite, and I actually had someone to take a picture of me with it today.
