An Interesting Person

Today, the Babylon Bee released the entire Elon Musk interview on YouTube. I’ve listened to Bee interviews before, and these guys are far from professional…and I guess that’s what makes them a bit more interesting. They’re most decidedly awkward, and I don’t mind the cringe every so often.

And so Elon Musk seemed to fit right in. You can tell just by listening to him that he’s got Asperger’s (a kind of high-functioning autism). Musk is a fascinating man, with a fascinating way of processing things, and to watch him working through his answers makes you wonder through his history. What got him to the point where this guy who’s being interviewed by a satire site is also the richest man in the world? It seems quite simple: be brilliant and press on. Don’t give up. I think Musk’s perspective put him out there when others wouldn’t have even thought in those directions. He starts as a college student and writes a program that turns out to be one of the earliest of it’s kind in navigation. He starts another company that morphs (merges) to become PayPal. He gets in early with Tesla Motors and it becomes a trillion dollar company. He starts up SpaceX, which now flies astronauts to the international space station at far less cost than the Russians were charging.

Listening to him, I can almost see how he pulled it off.

He says a lot of interesting things in this interview. A lot of it rather unguarded and thoughtful. I learned some things. Watch it, especially if you’re a fan of unique thinkers.
