Saturday 60: Fall has Fallen

A chilly day today. It seems autumn really is here. The leaves are falling, and the air has that certain crispness coming on. And the rice is ready. Yet again.

I was thinking about that the other day. I used to look forward to certain seasons, but now I’m starting more to see each season distinctly as a movement of time. Both ways. I’m remembering autumns in the past too, and thinking about how much I’ve always liked them, especially here in Korea. I think back on the things I’ve done and the memories I’ve formed. Real things, not just thoughts of what the season might bring. It’s comforting for some reason to know I’ve made it this far.

The mornings have been getting colder lately, and today’s was typical for this time of year. But the days have generally warmed up. Today bucked that trend, but the sun kept it pleasant. Until those occasions it went behind the clouds. Still, it was tolerable. I did spend the entire day in my jacket though.

There was no place in particular to go. The only thing that guided my ride was the wind — expected to reach over 10mph out of the NNW, so I’d start out into it and work my way back with it at my back on most of the return trip. Joon and I covered a lot of ground we’d already been, but diverged in a few spots to explore something new. In two places we topped 17% grade, once reaching 20% for several meters. All told we climbed nearly 3,000 feet. A good workout for the legs.

Other than that, not many pictures, not many highlights. I PR’d the Yongin University climb (in 5 efforts total) and another, but that was on only my second effort, so it’s not as notable. Only hit 60 for the Saturday too, but overall, and as usual, a good ride.
