It’s been quite the year so far. A year of milestones. A year of personal bests. As I write this, I’m less than 1,400 miles from my goal of 5,000 for the year — nearly 3/4 of he way there in less than 2/3 of the year.
I’ve done 30 BCFBs so far this year. That’s over 600 miles of 0430 starts, and 30 is four more than I’ve done in any of the previous four years of doing them. I’ve done 16 rides of 100km or more — 13 of those over 70 miles, 4 of those over 80, and one (soon to be two, but hopefully 3 by the end of the year) over 100.

I’m setting personal records on just about every ride I take, usually on the hills. That’s because I’m carrying about 30 pounds less with me, which makes the hills so much quicker.
And speaking of hills — I do them now. Early in my cycling career, I would ride miles out of the way to avoid them. Now I’ll be 65 miles into a ride and I’ll still go right up. I’m unintimidated.

And there will be more, Lord willing. Late September through November are peak months, and my absolute favorite time of year in Korea. I look forward to it.
