This is Interesting: Acrevalue.com

Just piddling around and I found this site, acrevalue.com. It overlays land plots on a map, and in some cases, gives you values. I found it when I was watching a video of someone who was searching for remote land in the UP. And if this is your bag — if you’re looking for a piece of land somewhere — this, plus of course with searching for whatever might be available through agents and the internet, looks like a good tool. You’ve got to subscribe to get some of the info, but it could be worth it if you’re serious.

I haven’t had a chance to play around with it much. Of course I looked at my grandfather’s old piece of land…which appears to be several pieces of land now. The piece that has the old house (trailer) and barn on it is 7 acres, and from what I can see around the area, it might be valued at about $5,000 an acre.

So is 10 acres self-sustaining? Get plenty of solar, maybe some wind power, drop a well, satellite internet. Work a few acres, learn how to can preserves, get a few goats and chickens, and who knows? I already know a trailer can be pretty comfortable on a piece of land like that.
