I wasn’t much in tune to “popular” music in the 70s. I think a lot of my taste for it came after…and sometimes long after.
So the other day when I took a listen to Eagles album Hotel California, I was reminded of how good it was (and still is, nearly 50 years later). This led to a short exchange with my brother Dan about some of the music of the era and what we listened to, which in turn led to me listening to another one of their albums, One of These Nights. Of course I’d heard all of the music before, but I’ve never been a huge fan (for some reason though, when I think of Eagles, I think of my sister’s friend Jane, and I’m a big fan of hers).
Then the other night, I got to thinking about one of the songs off of that album, and I went back and listened to it — and actually paid attention to the lyrics — and I liked it even more.
