While writing this blog, I’ve published nearly 200 pieces that went into the “Christianity” category. I imagine many of them are repetitive. I mean, to me, the Christian faith is the Christian faith. God planned it all out long before any of us were here, and there really isn’t much more to say about it that hasn’t already been said. So if I spend a lot of time hammering home a particular point over the course of a few years, I imagine if I were to go back and re-read what I was saying, I might come off sounding like I’m just pounding the same old beat on the drum.
Still, over the course of time, I may have had something to say. Borrowing from the methodology of many Christian authors, I’ve considered compiling my work in a single source and calling it a “book” of sorts. Unlike those writers though, my thoughts are just that – musings and ponderings over time with no real effort. I’m not digging through ancient works to demonstrate anything to you, I’m just trying to convince you of the logic of my beliefs and why I hold them. I can’t really say how that might be helpful, but maybe, with a bit more work, I could throw something more philosophical together.
Anyway, you know from yesterday that I took the plunge into AI, just to see what it could do for me, and one of my first thoughts was, “if ChatGPT took a look at my blog, what could it tell me about myself?” More specifically, along these lines, what could it tell me about my Christian faith. So, I plugged in the blog address and asked it “What is the author’s perspective on Christianity?”
And it gave me something interesting that I’m going to share here for a few reasons. First, it says a bit of what ChatGPT can do. Within 30 seconds, it gave me over a page of material, organized and expanded upon (with references from the blog). Is it right? Well, I’d like to think so. But it seemed a bit flattering in points, and who knows, maybe a little full of crap. Then again, it was drawing from my thoughts, so perhaps I had no choice but to agree. Second, it organized the response in a way that in turn clarified my own thoughts. And thirdly, it gave me an overview that might be helpful in how I approach writing in the future.
