Saturday 75: Jebudo and [oh my] Back!

It started out like most other rides. Maybe even a bit better. A 5 AM start to a planned 71-mile ride to Jebu Island. Since I’ve learned to read the tide charts, I’ve been there three times (and once before I learned to read the charts…but I didn’t actually make it to the island that time, of course).

This time was another good day for it. Not as warm as last weekend, but not as cold as it has been this winter at times. The winds were right for it — light early, then picking up enough to push us home over the seawall.

Unfortunately, 25 miles into the ride, I felt an excruciatingly sharp pain in my lower back. Fortunately, I was able to pick up some Tylenol at the next stop, and that dulled the pain enough to get me home. Still, it wasn’t exactly comfortable, and of course I’m wiped out right now, so there’s not much more I can say…

Early morning as the sun is coming up. There were six of us today.
The crew.
Doing a lap of the island.
A lighthouse on the island.
The beach on the west side. It’s never busy when we’re here, because we’re always here so early.
Beautiful rocks.
The strangest things…
A little detour on the way off the island.
And coming back from the detour.
