I couldn’t remember the last time I threw up. I can now.
It’s never a good thing to come down with food poisoning. It’s worse right after you do a 65-mile ride. The problem is, I often forget to drink enough in cooler weather, so I tend to get a bit dehydrated on a long ride. When that happens, I usually take the afternoon to rehydrate.
My usual Saturday, I’ll end my ride around noon, get cleaned up, then Micha and I go out for a late lunch. Not long after I got the laundry in and took a shower, I knew that wouldn’t be happening. Nausea, dizziness. Micha made lunch. I walked out, took one look, and told her I couldn’t. I went to lie down, and pretty much only got up to throw up after that. Moved out to the living room after Micha came to bed. Moved back to te bedroom after she got up. Slept until 2:30 in the afternoon. Finally able to eat a bit, but still weak and feeling poorly. And about 3 pounds lighter.
As for the ride, it was great. We rode out to Sapgyoho, then did a loop in the countryside. I really like the area — it’s a kind of Korean rural that’s just different from what we see on our side of the seawall. The farther I get away from Seoul, the better the riding. I don’t do it enough.
