You’d think 70 miles wouldn’t be so challenging these days. I mean, it should at least be a “same as usual” kind of ride — a little tired, but up for a good dinner after a shower and I’d be as good as new. But this one was a but tough. A bit of terrain. A bit of up-and-down. Nothing like last weekend, where we did one, big hill. This was a group of smaller hills…with a couple of hefty climbs. But even the bigger climbs wouldn’t have been much if they were spread out and on their own in the ride.
If you look at the profile, you could see it was the little things that chipped away at our legs.

And while the downhills provided a bit of respite, in the end, they couldn’t make up for the lactic acid injections from all those little ups after doing a couple of good climbs. You can see just how jagged yesterday looked (above) compared to last weekend’s ride here:

Still, it was quite the adventure. We had to climb through a new construction fence in one spot, carry bikes over some obstacles, and push for a stretch up a bit of a washed-out gravel and dirt. And through that, we found a beautiful valley tucked away not far from the bustle of the cities and suburbs around Seoul, and yet what could have made you think you were miles from the nearest big highway (and convenience store).
And as sore as I feel today — although a good massage and stretch helped (along with an Advil) — it goes down as another good memory, and it gives as some nice places to shoot for and explore in the future.
