I stumbled upon this sign somewhere online. It’s an interesting approach, and I appreciate it completely. I live in Korea. In Korea, you don’t tip. I don’t enjoy the concept of tipping. I don’t like both having to incentivize a person doing their job, or have them feel compelled to work for a tip. And it’s so automatic (with variations) that it lacks thoughtfulness.

I do like the thought of paying people adequately to do their job. This seems like the way the free market should work. If it turns out that people don’t value the work of the wait staff, they’ll not go to the restaurant that charges more so that they can pay them. I don’t think that would be the case though. I would go to a restaurant that factors in these things. I think a lot of people would.
