Saturday 70: A Couple of Hills

It was a beautiful morning for a ride today, and even if we were feeling a little worn out, it was, as always, worth it.

I’d like to say the highlights of the ride were the hills — two good-sized climbs — but that would be lying. There were other things to see though, like the Temple Bell Museum and Anseong Match’um Land. It was a fun time, and, as usual, I’m worn out, so there’s not much more I will be saying.

There was, however, one notable point of the ride. A while back, Chris mentioned a number, the name of which escapes me now, that you can use as a kind of novelty in riding, running, maybe even swimming (but the measurements would be different I’m sure). The number is when you ride x miles x times. In other words, if you were to ride 1 mile in 1 ride, your number would be 1. And once you’ve ridden 20 miles 20 times, your number becomes 20.

Well, today was the 62nd time I rode 100km…which is just over 62 miles. So my number is now “62.” I’ve ridden 63 miles 51 times, so I’ll have to ride it 12 more times to move my number to 63.

I don’t suspect I’ll ever make 100. I’d have to do 97 more centuries to pull that one off. But I know people who are close, I’m sure. Maybe someday I’ll hit 70, but to do that, I have to ride at least 70 miles 38 more times (I’ve done it 32 so far). It’ll take some time, but considering I started the year needing to ride it 45 times, I’m making progress. I’ve done at least 70 seven times this year already.
