Well, another year, another smoothie detox. This result not quite as good as last year, but still passable — I ended up losing 9 pounds over the 10 days. But, as I’ve mentioned before, this isn’t about losing the weight. It’s just about re-establishing the decent eating habits and the overall cleaning out of the winter’s work that I did on my body.
It’s a sad thing that the season of higher caloric intake (in the form of all kinds of goodies, plus egg nog) coincides with weather that takes a serious bite out of the exercise to which my body had become accustomed over the previous summer. But I can honestly say now that I know what a successful summer looks like, and I’m looking forward to giving it another go this time around. I’m already excited about the long rides, and I’m hoping to explore more corners of the country.
So here’s to the new year. It’s finally starting. Let’s hope it’s another good one…
