I’m actually following up yesterday’s piece with this one. Because the song I’m sharing here means something. As I’ve seen creation as a comfort that God is truly there and caring for us, I feel too this desire to give a joyful thanks. In one word: “praise!”
How hard is it to give praise freely? It’s not even a requirement — a demand of some fickle, jealous god. But there it is, found in a heart that is thankful for God’s undeserved provision.
There are still mountains to overcome — difficulties in all of our lives. This is a guarantee, and an unwillingness to accept that is one of our most deep-rooted issues as humans, But! The heart kept in the Lord has this joy locked down and ever-present, even when the world is crashing down around them. Even when they’re not even “feeling” it.
And even more, there’s nothing better than coming out on the other side of it. I just can’t see a downside…
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
Philippians 4:4
Man looks on the outside,
You look on the heart
That’s where my worship has to startWords fall short to tell you
Yearnings that I feelI want to worship you for real
For realTo truly live for you
To truly seek your face
To turn my heart towards you
A thousand times a dayFor all eternity
With every breath I take
I want my life to be
A sacrifice of praise
A sacrifice of praise to you
