I went to the moving pictures tonight. Very cool. Very interesting. There was a film there called “Dune,” and I got to see it. It was pretty epic. I liked how they set things up. They were thorough, but not boringly so.
It has been a long time since I read the book. And I do recall the first time they tried to make a movie of it…and failed pretty miserably. I only really remember that Sting was one of the actors in that movie…and maybe that explains it all. Not that Sting is bad, but, you know…
So it’s been almost two years since we last went to the movies. We used to go once every few weeks, so that was one of the things I missed most out of this pandemic thing. It hasn’t changed much, but they weren’t selling popcorn to be eaten in the theater. You could get it to go on your way out (which we did), but not for inside.
As for the movie; do I recommend it? Yes. It’s thoughtful and beautifully done. It made pretty good sense to me this time around — more so than the books it seems. I always knew that it was heavy-laden with politics, but I actually got it this time. Something that was a little harder to come by when I was so much younger reading the book. I mean, political intrigue is actually an old man’s game, isn’t it?
Go see the movie if you have a chance. It’s [probably] worth it.
Followed up with a trip to a dak-galbi restaurant that I ended up liking plenty. I’ll just tell that story in pictures though, including a shot of the place’s business card for anyone interested.
