Kids these days probably wouldn’t get it — what’s so special about Saturday mornings?
Saturday mornings used to be the only time you could watch Road Runner. Or Bugs Bunny. Or the Pink Panther.
And why would that matter? Isn’t it so much better now that you can login and watch just about any of these you want? Well, maybe there’s something to be said for patience. For not being instantly gratified whenever you have the urge. It’s a whole new ball game. Who would watch the Pink Panther anymore anyway? Who would even know it existed unless it was some kind of internet sensation.
And could it ever be an internet sensation? Who knows? Maybe I could be starting some kind of movement here.
But probably not.
Anyway, I’m about as tired as it gets right now, so I’m gonna leave you with Henry Mancini. Don’t know him? Then you’re probably too young. Maybe even too young to remember the Pink Panther…
It’s not just about patience but about having too much choice. With everything available All. The. Time. we have to make decisions all the time. It is exhausting.
Absolutely. I think it was Norm Macdonald that made the observation that news a long time ago was a half hour show, and even then they had to throw in a story about a dog that played the piano or something like that. So what do they do now that the news is 24 hours?
