Another bit of Funny

A conversation today ended with someone telling me to “have fun,” which usually reminds me of a line from the movie Rocketman — “Fun is my Chinese neighbor’s middle name” (although the Chinese in me would see it spelled “f-e-n”).

Which of course led me down that rabbit hole — that is, the rabbit hole that extols the comedy of that great movie.

I have never seen Harland Williams anywhere else. He impresses me as the kind of funny guy who could get rather annoying, and I probably couldn’t watch him anywhere else anyway. But this movie is him, and it’s filled with hilarious off-the-wall lines like the one about his Chinese neighbor.

Williams is the Rocketman

It’s best line is buried in the clip I’m posting here, and it wraps up so much in just a few words that it’s always comes to mind when trying to explain something to someone who’s done it wrong: “I’ll enter the same calculations using what we like to call, ‘the right way‘…”

Doesn’t get much better than that.

Now, like most movies that I saw over 20 years ago, I’m sure this one has its “roll your eyes stupid” moments. You know, the kind of comedy that makes you wonder what you ever saw in the thing in the first place. But I sure have some good memories about it. Maybe it was a timing thing…
