I had my typical early Monday morning today — up around three, figuring out what to do for the hour until my alarm sounds. Fortunately for me in these cases, Brewers day games start around two in the morning here, and today was game three against the Mets with a magic number of one. A win today meant there was nothing the Cardinals could do to win the Division. Yeah, it’s not the World Series, but it’s a victory. And it puts the Cardinals in their place..for now.

I usually do a BCFB on Monday or Tuesday, depending on how I’m feeling. Saturday’s history tour took a lot out of me actually. Did a lot of up and down, off and on. Took longer than I thought it would. But this morning was a good time to ride, and I put in the usual 20+. With the added pleasure of listening to the game as I rode.
Final score, 8-4. The Brewers are National League Central Champions and will play the winner of the East (either the Braves of Phillies). They’ve still got a series in St Louis (I hope they sweep, but they don’t have to) and LA — two perfect warmups for the playoffs. Tough games against two of the best teams in baseball right now. But they can rest up too if they want. The real stuff doesn’t start until the 8th of October for the Brewers. In the meantime, the Cardinals still have to go through both the Dodgers and the Giants before they would even get back to the Brewers.
It’s gonna be a good post-season.
And then later in the day, the Packers went to Santa Clara and took care of business against the 49ers, winning on a Mason Crosby field goal as time expired.

And to top it all off, the US beat Europe in the Ryder Cup at a course (Whistling Straits) only 50 miles or so (as the crow flies) from where I grew up.

Yup. A good day for Wisconsin.
