Back at it

There are a couple of cyclists I follow fairly regularly on the YouTubes. They have a common vibe — they’re positive, friendly, and adventurous; and they really know how to tell their stories well using the medium (they’re both adept at drone flying, which really adds to the experience). I posted about one — Ryan Van Duzer — just a few days ago. But I haven’t posted about the other for a while.

Matt Galat is an American who, until quite recently, lived in China (his work traveling around China is pretty cool, although he really attracts the trolls). He was in the middle of a round-the-world tour by recumbent trike when the pandemic hit. So his trike sits at a closed-down hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malyasia, unridden now for over a year.

Matt disappeared for a couple of months recently, but it turns out it was because he’s embarking on a new adventure — an adventure that’s easier to launch from the States, so he’s returned to Detroit for a while as he plans what’s next.

He’s posted a new video, and I certainly wouldn’t expect you to watch the whole thing (I’m only an hour or so into it, and that’s just halfway), but I yet again recommend his stuff. I especially enjoyed his ride through Korea (of course).
