Low Tide

A couple of months ago, I set out for Jaebudo, an island WNW of where I live and a little over 30 miles away (as the bike rides). I got there, and much to my disappointment, the tide was still up (and would be for another hour and some), so I ended up turning for home.

So I learned my lesson, and when I found out the tide would be out from 0610 – 1448 today, I planned pretty much the same route…in reverse…and this time with a lap of the island.

And it was quite good. The whole ride, but the island itself didn’t disappoint at all. I’m sure it can be a bit touristy later on a weekend day (and again, depending on the tides), but it’s wonderful, cool, and uncrowded when you get there at 7 in the morning. Both I and my riding partner, Joon, thought it was an excellent ride.

The tide is out
This was my view in May. No going to the island then, although if you followed the road i’m sure it never gets over waist deep. But the currents are probably dangerous.
The island is a tourist destination
Someone was drying peppers, and they were so bright.
The rice is already coming in in some places
And the dragonflies…
