This is a follow-up to my post from a couple of days ago — Goals. July was a pretty good month for me. The first full month of the summer…the Summer of Bob. And it’s gotten me to a point where just about everything I’m doing on the bike is a new high. For the third straight month, I’ve topped 600 miles, but the last two, just barely. This time around, I’m already at 608 with a couple of days left (and surely a BCFB tomorrow morning). In May, I topped 20,000 feet of elevation for the first time. In June, 23,000. July? I’m over 25,000 with two days left.

I can’t see getting much better, but then again, I was thinking July wouldn’t be that great either. July is hot and it should rain (but didn’t really this year) quite a bit. I’ll think the same about August now too, but between the BCFBs and the early morning starts on my long weekend rides, who knows what’ll happen?
As it stands though, every bit I do from now adds to personal bests for distance and elevation in a month. That works for me, because that’s what the Summer of Bob is for…
