I’m not really a basketball fan. I don’t see much difference between it and soccer. Yes, a lot more scoring, but still, a whole lot of up-and-down the court.
But I appreciate athleticism and technique in just about any sport. It’s always exciting no matter what or whom you’re watching to see something that stands out. Even more so when it’s a great athlete among other great athletes.
I’ve heard of this guy Giannis Antetokounmpo. I think a lot of people have. He’s very good. He plays for the Milwaukee Bucks, and if there’s any team I would follow, it would be the Bucks. I remember them from ancient history, listening to Eddie Doucette on the clock radio in the bedroom with my brothers at night — back in the days of Lew Alcindor/Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson, Bobby Dandridge and Jon McGlocklin. Yeah, Eddie Doucette was a great announcer.
Giannis makes plays. Lots of them. And in game 4 of the finals, I got to see one of them, and it was pretty cool. Cool enough that I’ll actually write something about it, even though I’m not really a basketball fan.
