Another Success

After a couple of grumpy days when the yellow dust from China kept me from going out to play, I saw my chance when the weather report showed beautiful skies, light morning winds, and clean air for Sunday. So it was up at 4:30 and on the road by 6. And again, such a satisfying day. So good, in fact, that rather than turning back once I reached the coast (I’d planned for about 50), I turned south instead to loop around the Pyeongtaek Port area and come home via Pyeongtaek Lake. It gave me a chance to really put the new bib shorts to the test, and also to knock out the May 100k.

As usual, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I can’t say enough how much cycling benefits me. I can hardly figure out why so few do it, but I guess everyone has their favorite ways to stay active (or inactive). I mean, I know people who actually like to run! Can you imagine that? Where’s the adventure in running?

Anyway. I count today another success. Checked all of the boxes, and then some.

Beautiful morning, right after six.
Rice is ready to go
Rice going.
For those who remember Kooni Range. The area farmers protested, and the range was shut down. A victory of sorts. But it was bound to happen, as memories of the war fade.
And the area bombs and fuel tanks turned into art.
And now a beautiful Little League complex with six diamonds.
And I guess this is where it got it’s name…although those who read Korean know this says “Go-ohn” instead of “Goon.”
Tide was out, so I went out too.
Out to the end. The water’s only a couple of feet deep here, but I’m still scared of it.
Tide is definitely out.
So a perfect time to go out on the mud flats and grab some dinner.
This ride’s called “Book It” because Chris says it doesn’t count until it’s on Strava. Well, it’s on Strava, so you can book it.
