Logan

I guess you could say the modern-day super-hero genre started with Christopher Reeves in Superman. It probably really got going with Michael Keaton in Batman. But since then, it’s all been rather formulaic and, quite honestly, pretty ho-hum. Sure, you can gawk at the effects. But really…it’s like watching Jurassic Park: The Lost World or something. Once you’ve seen it, you’ve seen it.

But then there’s Logan. Yeah, it came out quite some time ago, but Netflix (Korea) just put it up and I had to watch it again.

I’ve always been a fan of Wolverine. He and Spiderman are my two favorites. And I think Hugh Jackman’s done a great job with the part over the years. But when it comes to wrapping it up with the classic exit, the movie Logan nails it. If you haven’t seen it, I won’t ruin it for you. I’ll just say that it hits the right balance of superhero and tragedy without being corny or cartoonish. It is certainly my favorite of the genre — good enough that none of the obvious faults you would expect in a superhero movie matter.

And of course I am on record elsewhere as saying the trailer is also the best.
