When I first saw this come out, I wasn’t much interested. I really though Micha wouldn’t like it. I mean, here’s a Metal drummer who goes deaf. What could be interesting, especially in a culture that has never really adopted Metal?
I even saw it recommended somewhere and just put it in the back of my mind but still wasn’t that interested. Until another movie I tried just didn’t pan out. Then as I was scrolling through I saw it and thought “what the heck. May as well give it a look.” And it didn’t start well. Especially with Micha. They’re doing a piece and it’s…well you have to understand the culture to even begin to tolerate it I guess.
But she got through it, and it didn’t take too long for the story to develop. And then it took off. And then it was fascinating. So well acted and directed. Such a poignant story. It turned into something fascinating and meaningful and we both ended up liking it very much.
So give it a try. Get past the opening scenes because it’s not about the music. It’s about the man and his struggles…his suffering. His trying to understand this thing that had happened to him. Such a good movie. You can find it on Amazon Prime.
