Nothing! Nothing, I tell you, can lift my spirits like a good dog. So when I stumbled upon the AKC Fast CAT (Coursing Ability Tests) Invitational on ESPN2, I was in heaven. And what I liked even more: it doesn’t matter if your dog is a mutt – or, should I say, an “All-American” breed – if they’re fast, they have a shot.
And so it was with the overall winner, an All-American named Phelan, who clocked in at an incredible 32 MPH.
But what I really loved about the competition is that they separated the categories so that you got to see everything from a Chihuahua (or a Pekinese) to a Great Dane running 100 yards, and it was just so funny. They were so cute and so determined. You couldn’t help but love them.
If you get a chance, check it out. I’m sure it’ll be up on YouTube one of these days. I tell you, there’s nothing better to lift a dog-lover’s spirits.
