A Few Reviews

The Haunting of Bly Manor

It started out with some promise – a good old-fashioned ghost story.  Some good old-fashioned “gotcha” scares.  Some mysteriously weird kid who sees things.  And then it devolved into a love story.  And not even a love story with which most people can relate. It got really forced and sappy nearer the end (although the backstory told in the seventh (second to last) episode was pretty classic).  Then they gave us a final episode that finished about 20 minutes in…but didn’t.  I’ll give it a decent “meh.”  Five out of ten.

Adnams “Ghost Ship Ale”

Ran into this at the 7-11 near our apartment and it was intriguing.  A hoppy ale with a kind of sharp, fruity taste.  Micha was getting peaches out of it.  I thought it was decent, but I fear it’s just a once-in-a-long-while beer.  But speaking of which, that 7-11 seems to have a decent selection of oddities, and a lot of them fall into the “4 cans for 10,000” range. It pays to stop in every so often to see what they’ve got.

Urban Pie Pizza

The commissary has only one of their pizzas – the Cherry Tomato and Basil Pesto Mozzarella with thin artisan crust.  But if the rest of their pizzas are as good as this one, they’ll be worth trying.  Micha loves them enough that she has me pick up one at least once a week. They’re excellent.  The best frozen pizza you can get, period.
