I swear, autumn is becoming more and more beautiful as I get older. Maybe it’s that I’m learning more to appreciate the simpler things in life – beautiful clean September air and high blue skies are free and easy. The rice is turning it’s golden brown and laying heavy in the fields. The air is cooling. There’s just a feel to it all.
And it seemed so sudden this year. Perhaps the consistent rainy season made the typical Korean hot and humid summer run shorter. Instead of brutal hot skies, we had clouds and rain and air conditioning if we needed it (because we were certainly out less).
Autumn is that time of year for me where I just seem to naturally relax. I feel satisfied in many of the things I do, even when I do nothing. It’s a time of unexpected surprises – where a bit of a drive turns into a bit of a walk and a bit of a cup of coffee with a view. And there’s no hurry. We’ll get there when we get there. We’ll do it when we do it…if we do it at all. I suppose there could be no better feeling. I mean, what kind of person doesn’t want that kind of satisfaction?
