I’m sure this deserves to be a longer post, but by the very nature of its inspiration, it is by necessity short.
There are just those times when you pick a direction and go. I do it every so often when I ride my bicycle, and those are among the most interesting rides. On a larger scale though, it can be done in the car, and today was the day for it. When prevented by a simple quirk of ignorance and bull-headed military “efficiency” from going a simple 5 miles into the country east of here (but able to go 15 miles north toward Seoul), it’s best to just go…out there.
And so, after many miles we found ourselves in the hills to the southeast, seeing those things by which Korea cannot disappoint – beautiful valleys, rushing streams, thick green. And perhaps the virus and the recent typhoon dampened the rush of crowds to the point that we could actually just rest and take it in.
Good for the heart, I tell you…
