I’m in Beautiful Monterey…

…but not really.

I’ve just spent the entire night sitting through an on-line workshop being conducted from Monterey, California. I do this every year about this time, but what I like about this one is that I didn’t have to spend 20 hours to get there, suffer through three-days’ worth of jet lag, retire to a hotel room right when I was just starting to wake up — all just so I could get over the jet lag at about the time I had to go.

This was different. I made pancakes for “lunch” at about 3am (along with a couple of cups of coffee). I chatted with people halfway around the world. I took out the garbage. And in another couple of hours I will walk into my bedroom and catch a bit of sleep in my own bed.

Now, I love Monterey. I lived there for nearly seven years of my military career. But there’s something to be said for doing this all from the comfort of my own living room. I only have to overcome the negative jet lag now — it’s 8:30 in the morning and I’m not tired any more…

In any case, I thought I’d let you know that the quality of the next few days’ worth of material might suffer for the odd shift. We’ll see.
